Dear loving Rev.Father / Rev.Sister / Friend,
Greetings from Syro-Malabar Catholic Church Mission Chennai !
May I introduce the mission to you.
It was in 1983, on December 14th Rev.Fr.Jose Palatty came to Madras as
the chaplain for the Syro-malabar faithful at the request of Most Rev.Dr.Arulappa,
the late Archbishop of Madras-Mylapore. Through the untiring mission work of zealous
missionary preists from the diocese of Irinjalakuda, after 23 years, it has grown so
much. At present 17 priests and 125 sisters work here. We have 11 chruches (parish like
communities) and 19 other units where we conduct Holy Mass and prayer groups.
Our Sisters run different insitutions like Matriculation Schools, School for special
children, Hospice, Hostel, Retreat centers etc. Though there are around 10,000 Syrian
families, we have direct contact with 3,000 families only. Due to lack of personnel
and funds we have not reached everywhere.

Why Perpetual Mission Sponsors Scheme
|
|
It is the diocese of Irinjalakuda who is funding us for everything now.
The needs of mission have increased and a diocese cannot singularly meet
all of those. We are planning to start some social work projects also.
Particularly an old age home, a school for special children, rehabilation center,
etc. are on the way. For the different unit communities we have to buy some small
pieces of land where we can construct Prayer Halls. Aiming all of this, we are
trying to find out 1,000 Perpetual Missions Sponsors and you are one of them.

Who is a Perpetual Mission Sponsor
|
|
Perpetual Mission Sponsors are the benefactors of the Mission who are helping the
Mission through their prayer and financial assistance.With the paternal Blessings of
our Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil, Biship of Irinjalakunda, we start this program with
Easter 2006. It is a scheme of contributing Rs.3,000/- (Rupees three thousand only)
per year for the Mission. It can be given monthly (Rs.250/- per month) or all together.
It is perpetual because it is for 10 years. Those who give the amount together for
10 years the total amount is fixed Rs.25,000/- (Rupees twenty five thousand only).

What You Get in Return
|
|
It is our prayers that you will receive, which means that you will be remembered at every
Holy Mass that is offered in this Mission. There will be a special Holy Mass for
your particular intention in your choice of date at any one of our Centers here.
You will also receive a memento signed by our Bishop Mar James Pazhayattil,
Bishop-in-charge of Chennai mission. There will be regular communication
with you and an anual meeting of all the benefactors will be held at
St. Thomas Pastoral Centre, Ayanavaram or Bishop's house Irinjalakunda.
Please fill up and sign the form joining in the perpetual mission sponsors
project. You are also part and parcel of this mission.
